The door bangs open, two kids jump out and tumble onto the driveway; racing to see who can reach the corner first. The air is cold and biting, but I am drawn to take in a lungful of the frosty January-ness. And, realizing it is the moment of sunrise, I step back in, run up the stairs, and grab my camera. Back down again I step onto the stone-cold porch and frame the shot. My feet are freezing. But it is a good moment, feeling the exhilaration of being outside in January and listening to my children laugh and shout from down the street.
